Petunias – Happy Monday! FOTD August 31

This picture of petunia filled baskets was taken in a little Bavarian themed village called Leavenworth in the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. I wish I could grow baskets like these. These and other baskets around the village bring so much color to the already beautiful decor. I love Leavenworth, WA!

Yellow Flowers: Common Tansy and Goldenrod – FOTD August 30

These two yellow flowers were on a trail that we walked today. Both flowers are very vibrant and pretty but Common Tansy is an invasive weed in Washington State.

Goldenrod is not an invasive weed in Washington State but it’s flowers remind me so much of scotch broom. Just seeing its flowers made me want to sneeze. Scotch broom is a very big problem here.

What are considered invasive weeds in your area?

Petunias and Marigolds – FOTD August 23

Have a blessed day! I love my colorful flowers. It’s a mishmosh of annuals and perennials but I am happy with the colors it produced since Spring. I’m going to miss it all when Summer ends.

I’ve learned a bit more about gardening this year. More so than ever before. I can’t wait to plan for next year.

Dahlia – FOTD August 22

It’s a wet morning here. The skies are slowly clearing up. Rain is great but we’re hoping for a longer summer here in Washington State. We cherish and make most of our sunny, summer days because we know the cold and rainy days of Fall are just around the corner.

White Asters Slowly Blooming – FOTD August 20

Our white asters are finally opening up. Slowly but surely. They are so pretty when they are in full bloom.

Berry Picking – FOTD August 18

During our camping trip in Sequim, WA over the weekend we decided to pay another visit to Graymarsh Berry Farm. This time their Blackberries and Blueberries were ready for picking. We decided to hand pick blackberries for the experience and purchase already picked blueberries. It’s always a fun time gathering the best of the beautifully ripened berries. The blackberries we picked were from thornless bushes. I didn’t know there was such a thing as thornless blackberry bushes. Learned something new!

I was able to also get a few shots of their small garden of sunflowers.

The Little Things – FOTD August 16

Our little daughter pointed out these pretty purple flowers in the grass while she was running around getting some energy out. Boy she has lots of energy. It’s really nice to see that she doesn’t skip the little things. I was trying to get close up shots of it and it was windy. She offered to hold one still without me asking. Again. The little things make it all better. 😉
