Hydrangea – FOTD August 13

Hydrangeas are in bloom everywhere around us. They are so beautiful. These are from our neighborhood. I finally planted one this year but it didn’t give me any flowers. I planted so many other plants around it that I don’t think it’s getting enough sun. Hopefully it’ll give us some blooms after some better garden planning next spring.

Three Stages of Blackberry Fruits – FOTD August 11

This picture of blackberries was also from our hike. Right now the wild blackberries are ripening everywhere near us. We’ve been able to partake from vines in our neighborhood a few times over the last 2 weeks. It’s so refreshing to eat perfectly ripened, sweet berries.

White Flower – FOTD August 10

This is either a Wild Carrot (Queen Anne’s Lace) or poisonous hemlock. I didn’t get a close enough look to gather which type it is. Both are noxious weeds to Washington State. It was found on our walk through Theler Wetlands in Belfair, WA. It’s quite pretty to look at against the dense, forest like greenery.

Pretty wet coneflowers from our garden yesterday. We had a dreary 2 days of rain and cloudy skies. Today we have wonderful sunshine. We love sunshine!

Teenager Sunflower & Middle Age Sunflower – FOTD – August 8

These were both planted at the same time but one is fully bloomed and the other have yet to open. I love this time of the year! I have a few more planted in our front yard that I planted really late. Hoping they’ll grow quick enough to bloom before the REALLY rainy and windy weather sets in. I also hope the deer will not get to them.

Here’s a pretty sunflower for those of us who need an extra pick me upper.

This is a picture I’ve taken years ago. It’s one of my favorites and it was taken from a park nearby. I’d love to grow these type of mammoth sunflowers in my garden someday.

Oh Happy Day! FOTD – August 6

This photo was taken while on our family day trip in Shelton, WA. This beautiful rose was right next to their post office calling out “Hi” to me. It was a bright and sunny day.

FOTD – August 4 – Sunflowers

These are two out three sunflowers that survived our backyard garden. They have finally opened up a few days ago.

I want to be like a sunflower; so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight .  ~ Unknown

Almost Ready – Sunflowers – Flower of the Day (FOTD)

These two sunflowers are just about to bloom. I love seeing all the little specs of what looks like hair on them. If you look closely you can also see a few spider webs.

There are so many spiders in our garden and around our house. I never fail to run into a web coming out of our house each morning.
