This is either a Wild Carrot (Queen Anne’s Lace) or poisonous hemlock. I didn’t get a close enough look to gather which type it is. Both are noxious weeds to Washington State. It was found on our walk through Theler Wetlands in Belfair, WA. It’s quite pretty to look at against the dense, forest like greenery.

It’s scary how noxious weeds can look so stunning. Great photos, Deb.

Thank you so much Clare! Yes, they are quite pretty. Our 5 year old pointed the flower out and we had to talk to her about not touching the plants on our hike before asking us about it. They are quite curious at that age.

I remember teaching our girls to stay way from some noxious weeds with eye catchy assorted rainbow colours once. They were upset they couldn’t pick them, but understood they would make them sick.
